2003 A6 Auto Door Lock
Having continuing problems with my "auto" door lock function. This feature that automatically is supposed to lock the doors when you get over "x" mphworks intermittent at best. I took it to the dealer a couple months ago and they programmed it ($125 of course). Since then, the feature works only sometimes. There appears to be no reason as to why it works sometimes and not others. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. --Collin

I experience the very same thing only when it does work it disables the interior lights the instant that the doors lock. It can be worked around by unlocking the doors while in motion then locking them again. Then the lights work again esp the reading lights and the doors are locked. Very strange. Ialso have the 2003 2.7T.

The A6 has an auto door lock function? Mine hasn't done this since day one, and it passed a certified inspection.... Hummm I wonder if this is covered??? My lights are on warning does not make any noise either.

Thx for the input. I'll try unlocking and locking them on my drive home today to see if that works on mine. Never noticed the issue with the lights though...I'll have to see if mine does the same thing. This is my first Audi. The CVT transmission has taken some getting used to.

RE: 2003 A6 Auto Door Lock
Greetings. In the owners manual for mine it says it's a dealer programmable feature. Living in the city, I like to have it lock automatically for safety. I tried the unlock / lock while driving today as previously suggested above, but that didn't work. Guess I'll just have to remember to lock them myself.

in response to rodneylynn1977 does your dome light come on when you open the drivers door ?? mine does not ,,disasembled the door and latch and there is a micro switch to tell when the door is open or latched and the little "tit " is broken on mine ,,so it is real easy to leave the lights on ,sorry it does not help the auto lock feature, but may explain the lights on chime not working

YES! You can have the car programmed to lock automatically when you hit 15MPH. You need access to a VAG COM cable, and you need to recode the central convenience module. You can also program the remote to open/close the windows with the keyfob remote...kinda neat feature in the summertime when you forget to sut the moonroof. No need to turn the car back on, just hold the lock button down and watch all windows and sunroof close up!.

RE: 2003 A6 Auto Door Lock
Dallas A6 My unlock does not function from time to time as well. I wonder if there is a software update for our cars that we do not know about. I had my A6 at the dealer yesterday but they have no explanation except that the wiring must be shorting out somewhere but it would take straight time @ $100/hr to verify all of the circuits. I wonder if Audi engineering could be contacted about the situation. And what about service bulletins.
