2003 A6 quattro keep or sell?
I have 125000 miles on the car which is in good shape inside and out with new tires. However just got P0030 error code for an O2 sensor bank 1, sensor1. Dealer quoting $970 to replace. (Ludicrous!) The car now only gets about 4k miles per year.
How long can I expect the other sensors to last?
Should I replace all at the same time?
Should I replace the car as I should expect other issues?
Last year I had my local mechanic replace the flex joints which were leaking. His original quote was to replace the whole exhaust on each side for $1700 each plus labor, total $4500. After some friendly discussion I said I would get new flex joints cut out and welded or bracketed in. He said he could do it for $450 total. Done!! Otherwise the car has been very reliable.
Any advice from people with experience of lots of miles on their cars greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Robin.

Clearly you have the V6 Audi as the 2.0T oxygen sensor is in play sight and could probably be changed by hand.
I am new to this forum and noticed that rarely does anyone answer any questions unlike other forums that I belong to.
However, I love my Audi A4 and unless I actually have to spend a fortune to fix it, I am not going to give it up. 2009 A4 Cabriolet. Ed

You're absolutely getting screwed at that price, even if it's parts and labor. No shop should need more than 45 minutes to change an O2 sensor out. Find an independent shop, buy the part online, and hand it to them to change. Shouldn't cost you anything more than $100 labor, and realistically less than that.
At 125k, you're due for the timing service. Again, a reputable Indy mechanic is the way to go. A dealer will hit you for a fortune. As for other parts wearing out, you're in range for other O2 sensors, front control arms, and rear wheel bearings, going on experience, and anything else that could fail from your car's environment and rigor of service.

I'd honestly just do the work yourself, it can seem overwhelming at first but once you get started its simple as pie. I barely make 130$/hr as an engineer. I'm not going to pay that to have a mechanic work on my car.
