Default 2004 A6 Alarm question

Hello,

I am wondering about how the Alarm in a 2004 A6 works. I know that it has an immobilizer, shock sensor and sonic? sensor (I think). My question is, what does the shock sensor do? Will it go off if someone bumps into me in a parking lot? What about smashed windows? Also, my old man has a 2000 A6 and his had a motion sensor. Sit inside, set the alarm and wave your hand and it would go off. My 2004, however, does not do that. I know that some people seem to have a button by the truck button on the pillar by the drivers seat that turns the motion sensor on/off but I am missing that button...was that a feature that drove people nuts so they did not install it in the 2004 models?

Thanks for any answers, I realize they are pretty dumb questions but I will be damned if I can find out anything from googling it.
