2004 A6 Quattro 3.0 Misfire
Recently purchased model with 83k miles. After overnight in garage or in lot at office, engine runs rough upon start, runs strong after few minutes, but does have slight hestitation on accelleration form stop. CEL blinked intitally, then went out, now on consistently. Had scan completed (indicates misfire on 6) & re-set CEL each time. Cleaned & checked coil & plug, tech said looks fine. Saw old thread with similar syptoms about possible fuel/coolant leakage to cylinder while parked causing an inital misfire.
Any thoughts about diagnosis and to whetherpermanent damage can be done if continue to drive...do run it fairly hard as m previuos Audis/BMSs always seemed to perform better if pushed. Thanks.

Thanks...Thought that may rule out any coil or plug issue. I'll have the garage check it out tomorrow. Thinking I probably need to go to Audi Dealership to take advantage of any potentiel recall benefit, but likely to be more costly...ugh! let you know what comes about.

Just picked up from service. Tech replaced coil (said not interchangeable?), said plugs are OE and in great condition. Should know within 48 hours if problem solved. Cost = $168, but party purchased vehicle from covered...thanks. I'll follow-up in a few days with status. Thanks for feedback.

Ok...been a little while but here's the latest. No go! Rough engine upon start (just for approx. 10 secs) and CEL illuminated. Left overnight at garage for diagnosis for a.m. start. Removed injectors, said 6 was the worst looking but none looked overly bad. Cleaned & replaced with swap of 5 & 6. 2 days later, CEL illuminated but rough engine upon initial start appears eliminated. Stopped at Advance Auto Sunday to check...still misfire in 6. On way back to service garage now.
Any possibility this could be related to the A/C condensor. Appeared to run better upon initial start if I remembered to shut down the auto temp control prior to park and the lines were clear. Just a thought as this is frustrating...for me as well at my mechanic! Thanks all...keep you up on any findings.
