2004 A6 Rear Brake replacement
I recently installed new rotors and pads on the front of my 2004 2.7
I have 74000 and I would like to replace the rear as they look very groved with a noticable lip on the outside edge.
I understand there is a different procedure to do the rear disc and pads? Without having a repair manual to reference to, is it that difficult to do? what special attention do I need to know to do it right?
I elected to put OEM rotors and pads back on the front due to the price was within dollars, and the dealer parts depttold me the rotors are softer compound for better braking..hope he is correct as they seem to brake and feel very nice.

RE: 2004 A6 Rear Brake replacement
Thanks,I viewed some old posts and found this step by step link below with detail pictures. Looks pretty simple providing you have the proper tools. After reviewing the steps,I would prefer to avoid the C clamp/large pliersmethod to avoid a added cost to replace caliper boot if you not careful. That last turn could be painfull. The Harbor freight or autozone rental tool seems a breeze and no headaches.

RE: 2004 A6 Rear Brake replacement
Wanted to add a question! What is the rear rotor size on an 01 Audi a6 w/ 2.7 and 16in wheels? I went to an auto parts shop and they had 2 different sizes so I wasn't sure. Thanks!!
