07 A6 rear brake pad replacement
Hello All,
I'm new to the forum and wanted to get some advice from the experts. I just bought an 07 A6 Quattro. I noticed right away that the brake pads make the wheels absolutely filthy in just a couple of days of driving. I bought some ceramic pads to replace all 4 wheels. I was able to replace the front pads with no problems after reading some DYIs from this forum which helped me a lot. I'm very familiar with pad replacements and have replace quite a bit of them ion different cars. The only difference with the A6 are the retention springs.
I've read some posts that says I need an electronic tool that will retract the rear brake pads due to the e-parking brakes. I don't want to have to spend the money for something I may only need once (pads should last a long time). Is it possible to replace the pads without using this electronic tool? Can I just push/turn the piston back in manually? I have that tool to push it in that I used on my sister's Jetta. Has anybody done this successfully?
