2005 A6 front side marker light changing

I used a red shop rag so try paper towels the light is held in by a spring as soon as you start to slide it in it will pull out I just replaced all four of my bulbs (2 cars)and they pop right out. If your afraid of the crew driver scatching use a plastic knife with the towel wrapped around it.
By the way I am using a Snap-on carburetor adjuster screwdriver it is small and thin. Not some big clumsy thing for paint cans or anything. If I scatched my car I would have to repaint it right away so I'm totally with you on the scratching. Lights cost $3.00 on ebay per set to replace but they wont break anyway.
The only other thing I can think of is 3M double sided tape it is very adhesive and it might be sticky enough to pull the light out.

well I figured it out, and think i have a better way (no offense Jackmup, I appreciate your help =] ) to do it. The light is held in by a spring but it is only on the rear half, not the front half of the light. I went through the front wheel well. There are a couple star bolts that I removed, then loosened the wheel well cover. Put my arm through and pushed out on the light on the rear half. Eventually the spring gives and the light pops out. The front half of the light is a retaining clip, and once the spring gives, you can just remove the light. Seems pretty easy, now that I know how to do it. Any questions, let me know. I took a pic of the light, and will try to post.

Step by step front side marker light change
I elected to remove 3 wheel well screws holding the weather cover to the body. I was then able to reach up into the bumper, find the rear of the light fixture, press firmly and it pops out. Bulb held in with a rubber fitting, apply a bit of leverage from a small flat screwdriver, and then the light is easily removed/reinserted. Reverse procedure to button it up. About 5 minutes in all.

Quick fix
I had the same question, but worked it out without any scratches or dismantling. I used some good duct tape (REAL duct tape used for actual HVAC work, although standard grey tape might work also) securely stuck to the back of the assembly. Just a very easy pull to the rear end of the lamp assembly and it popped out. Swapped bulbs and was done in less than a minute.
