Hello. New to Audi Forums. A problem recently developed in my 2005 A6. Behind the sunroof, under the headliner, it sounds like a golf ball rolling around inside? When I accelerate it rolls to the back when I stop it rolls to the front, and it rolls side to side in turns?

I can feel the rolling if I put my hand to the headliner. Whatever it is, it's slightly weighted.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Sunroof spring has come loose. It is a very common problem.

 

Thanks Kevin. Is there a TSB on this? I researched but could not find anything.

Thanks Kevin. I retrieved the spring that popped off. The ends look like they are in good condition. I am going to ride for a bit with the missing spring and see how it goes. I hate the thought of pulling the glass or headliner if everything works. I appreciate the information.

Hi there. I have the identical issue on my 2005 a6. The spring, I assume, is rolling like a golf ball.

How/where did you pop the headliner to retrieve the spring? It sounds like it is coming from the same vicinity as your golf ball. I want to do the same as it is driving me NUTS and before I need to take to the dealer.
