Well why does the maintenance schedule call for the timing belt to be replaced at 75,000 miles?

Because they are idiots.....I think they are referring the chain as the belt, the second link takes you to a tensionerfor a 4.2L V8.
Here is a pic off elsa web for removing the timing chain covers on a 3.2L engine. Dispute that.
