Default 2005 A6 Tire size

Hey guys, I just picked up a 05 a6 3.2Q and wanted to put some new tires on it, currently it has 245x40x18r on there but the spare is a 245x45x18r. Question is, can you run the 245x45x18r's on the car without any modifications? If not I will just replace the spare, but would rather go with a slightly taller tire if at all possible.

Thank you in advance.

If you want a slightly taller tire go with 255/40/18. I did and it improved the ride and the traction. I also went with season dedicated tires.

Thanks, I was hoping i could stick with matching the spare which is 245x45x18r and could save a good $250, but guess I will just go with the 245x40x18r.

Any suggestions on which tires I should go with, I'm just looking for an all season tire.

Thanks again.
