Definitely true, Kevin. BTW, this car has the Premium, Cold and Technoilogy package. The only other option I know of is the S-Line package; is that the difference yours has, or are there more options?

In 2005 I believe that there were only 2 "option packages" for the 4.2, Cold Weather and Audio Package. If I recall correctly the Premium and Technology Packages were standard on the base 4.2, they were upgrades on the 3.2.

I can't tell ifthe car you are looking athas the Cold Weather Package (heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, ski sack and headlight washers). I think I see the controls for the heated rear seats but I don't seethe headlight washers. My kids like the rear heated seats and I like the heated steering wheel and headlight washers, which alternate from side to side so as not to interfere withnighttime visibility, very cool.

It looks like the car you are looking at has the Audio Package (the Bose system and satellite radio).Which satellite modular is in the car? I got the Sirius modular.

Inaddition to the two packagesidentified above, the car was also available with the following options:

navigation system, which I assume the car you are looking at has(car came with software version 5 has since been upgraded to version 8, make sure dealer gives you the upgrade, it makes a big difference).

advance key, which it looks like the car you are looking at has(push button start and automatic car unlock when you approach, it is a great feature)

solar panel sunroof, the car you are looking at does not appear to have(runs ventilation system when the car is turned off, very cool).

voice recognition,(controls telephone, radio, CD, nav by talking to the car, it works well if you are the only person in the car, with passengers it is only so-so). All of the cars came with the voice button on the steering wheel but you had to pay for the module. If the button does not work ask the dealer to install the module. If you have the voice recognition modular make sure that you get the MMI software upgraded. The car came with version 10.5 and my car now has version 33.4. In other words a lot of improvements were made in the software.

power rear and manual side sunshades, the car you are looking at does not have it when looking at the pictures(keeps the sun out of the back window and goes up and down when the car is put into drive or reverse).

sport suspension, you say the car is missing(car rides like it is on rails, but can be harsh on rough roads),

sport seats, the car you are looking at does not have the sport seats(extra side support),

rear side airbags, the pictures ofthe car you are looking at lacks the extra tags for the additional rear side airbags, the pictures do show that tags for the standard side curtain airbags in the back(the 4.2 only comes with sideairbags unless the original owner opted for the additional rear side airbags, with kids I wanted the extra protection),

tire pressure monitoring (I am too lazy to check the tires on a monthly basis), take a look in the MMI menu under car - tires and see if the system is active

parktronic (from the pictures I can't tell if you have it, great for backing up real close to objects),

18 inch tires (from the pictures it looks like you have the 18" tires with the OEM Continentals, there have been several complaints from fellow Audi owners that the OEM Continentals shredded from the inner side of the tire and became dangerous. My car did not come with the Contis so I do not have any first hand knowledge).

Regardless of the packages in the car, the 4.2 is a great car even if it is missing a few of the options. Have fun with it.
