Is it possible to buy spare keys and have them programmed by non Audi main dealers. A "spare" key from Audi without remote control door openers or keyless entry is about $274 including programming the transponder.


There are plenty of $10 replacement keys on eBay, I can get one cut by any locksmith however the 3-4 locksmiths ive spoken to wont touch Audi's from 2002 onwards?


Am I talking to the wrong locksmiths? or can later model i.e 2007 onwards cars be reprogrammed other than in Audi dealership?

 

I need to do get an additional key as well. Were you able to find a solution.

I found cheap "spare" keys on line which allegedly have the correct microchip in them. However they are no use unless you just want to unlock the door. In order for them to work all the keys (original plus spares) need to be recoded simultaneously. this can be done at an audi dealer as I say above, I have found an independent audi shop that is authorized to use the audi system (a database) to do the reprogramming however it is still $150 ++ for the reprogramming with no guarantee the cheap keys will work. I sourced an original spare from audi and I think the price was @ $200 per key.


I haven't tried the spare "cheap" keys yet........but when I do I will let you know.

 

I have ordered a used key. Will post on outcome, meaning if it will work after programming it myself or through the dealer

You can buy blank keys with blank internals on eBay for 10 bucks and have those programmed for under 60 in those areas. But only in the heavily populated Hispanic areas can do it. I have 4 spare keys just in case. Good luck

I have a 2008 Audi A6 quattro- lost original key, fob, the whole nine. I live in Dahlonega. Ga., n the lowest price is 850$.please help, I'm getting a new experience with this car, but it's fine by me.
