Im in the same boat right now man...I've just got a K&N cold air intake on mine so far and saving up some money for a full-catback.
but otherwise im not sure what other options exist for our cars...im gonna go talk to a friend of mine who owns a shop to see what he can do about it other than a new engine rebuild.

I have a 2000 2.8 and while I agree that there does not seem to be to much available for our cars, I'd still add a decent cold air intake and a catback. Possibly a chip if there is a decnt one available for us. But Just those things would make enoug of a difference that it would be worthwhile if you can get a good deal. Plus if you can keep your foot off of the gas, it may add +1 or 2 mpgs as well.

On the 2.8, the GIAC chip is money, 10hp and 10ft.lbs, 7100rpm.I think thats pretty good for a N/A engine. Im gonna invest in that mod sometime...
If they make a chip for the 3.0, it would probably be good as well. Cat back does wonders, intakes do a bit as well.
If your well off, then theres the PES G3 supercharger for the 3.0, but if you have that kind of money, IMO, you shouldnt be driving a 3.0 A6, same goes for the 2.8. Better off getting a 2.7T!
