Default 98 audi a6 quattro timing belt

I have a 1998 Audi A6 quattro with around 77k miles on it. And i was wondering when should I change the timing belt? Is there a kit that comes with everything you need with instructions? I plan on doing the change myself and with a friend. Is changing the timing belt, water pump, and everything else hard?

Thanks for reading.

Its time based on age of the tbelt alone. Its a pretty big job. You need a big assortment of tools. Get the bentley manual. It walks you through the whole process. Blauparts sells a real comprehensive kit for a reasonable amount. Fcp groton also has kits. Whatever you do CHANGE THE COOLANT PUMP, TSTAT AND TENSIONER! I have seen many wp failures from people trying to save $80 and end up paying me to change it later. Labor is the same as doing the whole tbelt. Don't be a donkey do it right! Good luck!
