A6 100k miles - what should I do for another 100k miles?
Hello,
Iam the original owner ofa 2000A6 Avant Wagon (2.8 v6)just about to turn 100k miles. Since it is paid for and running strong, I have recently decided to keep it until it dies. I'm wondering what I should do now to help it run another 100k miles.
I've never had a major issue with the car, and I have had regularly scheduledmaintananceperformed, although I'll admit that usually means oil change and tire rotation only so I may have missed some things I was supposed to do!
I have never:
-replaced the shocks/struts or springs
-flushed/replaced coolant
-flushed/replaced brake fluid
-serviced the transmission
-serviced the a/c (that I am aware of)
I have:
-replaced the main belt a couple times, most recently last year
-replaced the air filters for the engine and a/c (last year)
-had an all wheel alignment, but that was two years ago
-changed the spark plugs, also two years ago
-changed the valve cover gasket last year
Can anyone recommend what from the above list I should do now to keep the car running good?
Thanks!

RE: A6 100k miles - what should I do for another 100k miles?
did you only replace the timing belt?
you need the serp belt, thermostat and other parts (search timing belt kit)
vac lines won't be a bad idea, change all of them you can get the line from the dealer quick
change spark plugs again, new wires wouldn't hurt (i got lifetime magnecor comp ones)
get the suspension looked at (might already have problems you don't know about, the joints are a weak point on our cars)
get another alignment
clean, grease the sunroof
i think that covers it

You should change your P/S fluid and brake fluid. It'll save you some headaches down the road. Also change out your coolant. If it sits too long, the disimiliar metals inside will cause corrosion, so every couple of years you should change it.

You should change the fuel filter. Check the rear brake pads each year. Check the CV boots for cracks. Youmay wantVAG-COM from www.ross-tech.com. You may want to get the BentleyPublishers.com Audi shop manual CD.
