Hi, my audi A6 2000 2.8L has a strange mist coming from the hood every morning on my way to work, It happen's in the morning when the engine's cold, but after that, the rest of the day, runs just fine, no smoke at all, my car has a oil leak that I'm about to fix, could that be the problem???

how heavy is condensation in your area in the morning? that could be it burning off unless its a real thick mist, then im not exactly sure

 

If its oil, you'll know it..It stinks real bad and is unmistakable.

 

is it the oil ?? you tell us im sure that's simple enough

 

The mist isn't that thick , but its noticeable just every morning coming out of the hood, not a lot of amount but I can see it coming from the driver side of the hood and passenger's side also, even down on the front bumper, It doesn't have an odd smell, the smell is like coolant, but my car's temperature is just fine, my car's mileage is 71,000. Next week I have an apointment with my mecanic, Im going to do the timing belt, water pump and the hole enchilada, even Im going to change the thermostat and do a radiator flush then add brand new coolant. Is there something else I might be checking, even though Im going to ask my mecanic about the problem, I want to know you're point of view guys, what could be the strange mist?

if its a sweet smell its coolant and chances are its the water pump and good luck

 

Thanks for your help, Next week I'll get the water pump replaced , with the timing belt works and the thermostat, It should get it fixed
