A6 alarm going off
Everytime I lock it, I find the alarm going off a few minutes later. I've checked the doors/seals (this is an Avant) and everything seems to be tight. the car's never been hit, so I don't think it's a door alignment issue.
I just want to disconnect the alarm, unless I can find a way to trace the source without having to tear the car apart!
Any suggestions on disconnection that won't disable the ignition? Recommendations on tracing the problem?

The alarms on these cars are very sensitive. The most common cause of them going off is leaving the windows down at all, or more commonly, about an inch or two. We all do this so our cars don't get to 150 degrees in the summer.
For our Audi's you need to press the internal alarm sensor disable on the B Column (lower driver's-side seat belt). In the owner's manual it says to hit this if you leave an animal/kid in the car (don't!) while doing something. Hopefully this is the cause, otherwise this might become a larger issue.

If you have a 1997 or newer A6, then you may use VAG-COM to find out what is wrong with the anti-theft system. See www.ross-tech.com .
