a6 avant splash guard
I have a 2001 a6 avant...i had the oil changed not too long ago and apparently the "tech" lost the "special" bolts that secure the splash guard to the underside of the front of the vehicle below the engine. I didn't realize this until recently, when we started hearing a rattle coming from the front of the vehicle. I slid under the car and noticed that the "tech" secured the rear of the splash guard w/ two plastic zip ties...leaving the rest of the splash guard to flap around. What would happen if I simply removed the splash guard entirely? Does it really serve a purpose? Maybe keeping the engine compartment cleaner? Living in Montana, we deal w/ quite a bit of inclement weather, however, the flapping around is driving me nuts. Any suggestions??

RE: a6 avant splash guard
It is better to have the shield there. For undercarrage protection from the elements as well as noise reduction. Go back to the shop and insist they pay for replacement fasteners. You can probably get them from ecs tuning or shokan.com
