Hi,

I am looking to buy this car and in general I am not a fan of automatic transmission because those old ones were really bad (I am talking about all in general not just Audi). But nowadays it seems like those new Audi transmissions are getting better and better, especially on the latest models.

So when in process of buying Audi A6 C6, I wanna know whether I should take in to consideration automatic transmission.

So can those of you have more experience tell me something more (everything) about DSG transimission, all the pros and cons.

Best Regards

I do not think the C6 vehicles came with manuals unless you find an S6 or RS6. The old tips used to be problematic with the 4.2 V8s and the chipped 2.7Ts, but I do not recall hearing problems with the base engines. I think the C6 comes with the 3.2 which should not overwhelm the tranny. Obviously a thorough test drive is required. Keep in mind these are not quick cars (not fast off the line due to weight and Quattro, and trying to rev and bang it into gear will destroy the tranny), but they will cruise all day at very high speeds.

Oops my bad. Im interested only in 2.0 TDI and 3.0 TDI. And they have manuals here in europe, lots of them. Maybe you were talking about gasoline, I dont know.

More my bad -- I just assumed you were talking US models. Yes, Europe is still heaven for manual transmissions. Americans are lazy ba$tards for the most part. I have six cars titled and four are MT6, and the fifth (a Crossfire SRT6) would be if they made them that way. My three kids all drive manuals so I must have influenced them right.
