Default A6 electrical problem I think? PLEASE HELP

Hi,

I just brought an 98 A6 about a week ago. The car runs great but I just began noticing a few problems. Sometimes when I start the car my headlights/blinkers don't work at all and I have to stop the car and restart it again and they work fine.

Secondly, my rear windows will do not work from either the front or the back. And when I'm driving I can smell something burning. It isn't a strong smell but it is noticeable, maybe burning rubber smell?

Anyone else had these sorts of problems and if so what did you do? Should I stop driving it until I can get it serviced or am I just overreacting. Do you think its a big electrical problem?

PLEASE HELP! I would greatly appreciate it.

First problem, I had the same issue with my 96 2.8 and there was a recall for that problem. Forgot what it was... check out the recall on line.

Window issue: could be regulator/plastic guide.... known issue. Plastic giude is prone to breaking.

change the electrical portion of the ignition switch and look for a crack in old switch.

Ignition switch (as mentioned above)
window regulator/motor
cam seals (burning oil can smell like rubber)
