Default A6 headlight problem

I have a 2004 A6 Quattro. Recently the passenger side headlight has lost its intensity. The bulb glows but it projects a pinkish glow. I've been told that the problem could be the ballast resistor. Can anyone advise whether this is something I can fix myself or do I need to take it to a dealer. Thanks.

Ballast problem sounds right. If you car is still under warranty, won't hurt a quick visit to the dealer.

You can also try swaping the bulbs from side to side to see if the problem follows the bulb.
