Default A6 Tranmission Problems

2000 A6 2.7 trip- When accelerating at highway speed- say 60 to 75 - I will get a vibration as the speed builds. No vibration when going from 0 to 40 or 20 to 50. Once i attane the speed vibration goes away. Also sometimes when decellerating around a turn, as i exit the turn and begin to accelerate again , it will jump into gear (2nd?) if i give it too much gas. If i slowly give it gas it won't jump into gear. Any thoughts???

Your hwy speed issue is related to wheel/tire balancing. Get them balanced or replace your bent wheels.

The second issue is common, a lot of tips do this. After having my fluid changed it got a lot better but now a year or so later it still does it. You will notice that if you had come to a complete stop, it would not have happened. It only happens when you come to a rolling stop and then take off. Maybe there is a fix for this but none I found.

speaking of balancing, how bad before a wheel can not be balanced anymore? or say how badly bent can a wheel be before it cant be balance anymore and just has to be replaced?

Audi's seem to be the most sensitive to bent wheels and out of balance tires I have ever experienced. But I could not tell you what the threshold is for too bent.

Some expert wheel repair shops can do wonders on a rim that hit a pothole or a curb. I have seen wheels be again as good as new ones...

The vibration is not in the steering wheel at all- i feel it more in the accellerator. Do you still think that it ia a balance problem??

Could be a bad engine/transmission mount. Take it to a tranny shop or your local german mechanic and pay them the 100 bucks to check it out. If it is the transmission, fixing it now will be a lot cheaper than waiting for it to die.

is your check engine light on? Is it possible the shake is an engine misfire?

the 2nd issue is Audi's trans programming; it was meant to save gas so if you want that gear to drop you gotta give it more throttle, or use tip mode and have total control =)

I would try balancing the wheels first. Another possibility could be that your inner CV joints are wearing and have some play developing in them. This will cause some vibration when accelerating. If you have 125k or more miles on the car then CV joint issues can start to surface, especially in the front.

Do you hear or feel any play in the driveline when shifting back and forth from R to D?
