A6Q Duplicate Keys - can we make / buy one?
I do not have duplicate keys to my 2003 - A6 3.0 Q. I did not get them when I bought it as a used one. Any idea if I can buy a duplicate set from Audi Dealer or any other place? Else can I get it made from somewhere?

A good locksmith should be able to cut a new key. they use a different machine to cut audi keys so they cost more. ihave one made for a 96 a6 avant and it cost me $35.

The switchblade key cost $195 + $109 for labor from the dealer, the labor is for cutting the key and reprogramming the switchblade.I got the switchblade and areplacement key, (the key is connected to the switchblade by a lil pin)off ebay. You can find they new and used for different prices. Buy watch out, I thought I was getting a new one for $20, but it was used.

There are instructions on how to program a new fob key. I think CRAZYHAWK has posted them numerous times. If you get a reote with the same fcc numbers as the one you have get the key cut and find the instructions in the AF.

A local dealership is the easiest way to go. You can also reprogram old remotes from other A6's too. I got a regular key (no remote), a switchblade key (top half) and an old remote reprogrammed for $250 at my local audi dealership. They aren't cheap but you gotta do it. I lost my only key in the first week, luckily found it later, but had to have my car towed to the dealership so they could order a new key. No fun.

You can get a new key from the dealer, but because you have a 2003 (or newer) don't bother trying a locksmith or eBay because they won't work with your immobilizer. You can get a key cut to unlock the doors, but it won't start the car without the immobilizer chip being programmed to do so.
My dealer charged me $65 for just the keyblank with the immobilizer chip, and another $45 to program it to match the immobilizer. I bought a used remote from eBay that I programmed to lock and unlock the doors for about $50. If you do order from the dealer, have your registration and license handy....because they need it to order the key.
Hope this helps.
