ABS Gone wrong, or just bad brakes?

ABS Gone wrong, or just bad brakes?
Whats up everybody, I have a 2001 Audi A6 that has the solid circle or wheel on the dashboard. Ive had it solid on there for about a year and nothing really happens, I have in fact, taken it to the dealership to get regular maintenance and they never mentioned anything. Whenever I push down on the brakes, it feels like I have to almost push it down to the floor to get a complete stop. I recently looked at my wheels and noticed that the rear tires where dusty(normal) from the brake pads and the front wheels were clean. Am I using only the rear wheels? My friend thinks that the brake hose might be snipped in the front and the ABS senor has gone wrong, if so, how much would it cost to fix?.... I wish I was a millionaire so I dont have to worry about these problems.
Thanks a lot

Does it look like this... (O) ? That's low brake pads sign so I really hope you haven't been driving on that for a year. And it wouldnt matter if your ABS is out (doubt it, other wise you'd have the loud yellow ABS warning light on 24/7) your brakes still stop normal front & rear w/out the ABS, its only usefull on slippery surfaces or when you punch the fat pedal. Check your pads

You don't have to be a millionaire, but you should read your owner's manual cover to cover and find a dealership that knows what the heck they're doing. As stated above, there is a different icon for low brake pads than the one for ABS failure. Pushing the pedal to the floor tells me you are either real low on fluid and/or out of front brake pad or both. You don't even notice ABS unless you are on ice or sand. Prepare for new front rotors because you did not take care of them before the rivets ate them.
