Default So, what is wrong with my brakes?

I drove to work and realized really slow acceleration during the last 2 miles of my commute. Parked the car in the garage and notice my brake lights are still on. I pressed the brake pedal couple of times to see if it will dis-engage the switch, but the lights stayed on. I bent down and tried to fiddle with brake switch/cable and noticed the lights went off.

Who knows the lights have been on for how many miles before I noticed this. However, during all this time, I didnt get any warning lights on my Dash. No Brake/ESP or ABS warning.

Has any one of you experienced this? I am thinking this is a brake switch problem, but your experienced response will confirm.

If yes, where should I buy and any place to look for diy instruction. I did spent some time on google and didn't get any response. A guy posted diy in audizine, but the image links are expired.

Per Amazon, this switch should fit my 2004 Audi A6 2.7

have you checked your brake fluid? or had them inspected recently?
Your ebrake cable could not be loosening also.

Have someone look at your brake system first before you try replacing anything

I had brakes done couple of months back. What drove me to brake switch conclusion was that moving the wire connector instantly turned off all the three brake tail lights. You think low brake oil will cause something like this?

Give the switch a try, but make sure the fluid is topped up and check your reservoir to make sure nothing is plugging it up
