Default AC question...

Ok this is sure to sound a little stupid... but how can I tell if my AC is working? I suspect it may not be working since I had my timing belt changed. I had some fog inside my car last week and normally the AC takes care of that real quick. This time.... it seemed to depend on the heat of the engine to clear things up.

It's not going to be above 50 here for a while... so it's tough to tell if it's cooling the air or not. Sure, I could wait til spring... but I want to bug my mechanic about this before too much time goes by.

if you have a garage you could put it in there and heat it up to 80 or so, then try out the a/c.

Sweet. I'll just close the door and run the engine. Thanks!

i'd probably throw a space heater in there for a few hours to warm up the ambient temp before I tried to run the a/c

Sounds like a recipe for carbon monoxide poisoning. If you ECON button stays lit and won't let you take it off econ, then the A/C isn't working. If it comes off econ then the system is currently working correctly.

However, if you have that little snow flake icon on in the dash, it will prevent the A/C from coming on. The reason for this is to prevent the evaporator lines from freezing up.

I was kidding.

No warning lights popping up. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. (They botched my wife's AC last time they had her car for something entirely unrelated)
