Question All Electric fans.... standard?

I recently upgraded from an A4 with a viscus clutch fan to an 2002 A6 3.0 w/ Quattro (of course) with all electric fans. All the technical information I can find on the car says I'm not supposed to have those fans. So, is this standard?

I can't conceive of a reason the previous owner would "upgrade" a 3.0 engine (more hp...I think not). So I'd be pretty sure you have a stock set up. Unless....just possibly....you have come across the exceedingly rare Farfenugel Sport Version, making an extra 3 hp by eliminating the serpentine belt drag on the fan clutch. Just to be sure, I'll check my 2003 A4 3.0 next time I pop the hood.

Well I do know for a fact the car has only been maintained by Audi in Ohio and Audi North Scottsdale (where I bought it). There is no evidence that the pulley where the viscus clutch usually attaches is built to accept that particular set up. But Audi's own technical drawings say I'm supposed to have a belt driven fan.
