Updated results soon. 349 A6s signed up so far. A good start, but more remain needed to provide results for all model years.

We've updated the results for the A6 to include owner experiences through March 2009. In terms of successful repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2006: 54, about average

2003: 200, worse than average

2002: 124, about average; actual repair rate probably higher based on the 2001 and 2003

2001: 192, worse than average

2000: 205, worse than average

Sample sizes range from very small--for the 2000 and 2003--to just five short of the minimum for a full result--for the 2001. On the site these results are all asterisked and visible only to participants.

A big thanks to everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in August and November. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.

Is the Subaru as twice as more reliable than A6?

(just mine thoughts on relativity...)
One thing to consider, Subaru has always been noted for it's KISS method of
design..very few electronic gadgets even on the LL Bean whereas Audi has always been leading edge especially in electronics..that would skure the results tremendously IMO...the audi just has more goodies that can give owner's who don't know about things many of whom have never even read the manual, the audi will never be as simple as the subie

Overlooking the fact that these were hypothetical numbers, Audi vs. Subaru probably isn't a fair comparison for this reason. Audi vs.Lexus, on the other hand...

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that the repair frequencies for nearly all newish cars are below a repair trip per year, on average. Unlike others, we report the actual repair frequences, not just dots, to make this clear.

Additional participants remain needed for all model years. Updated results in a couple of weeks.

We've updated the results for the A6 to include owner experiences through June 2009. In terms of successful repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2006: 71

2003: 230, very small sample size

2002: 147, marginal sample size

2001: 233

2000: 173, very small sample size

Average for the 2006, worse than average for the C5s.

Everyone who has been helping, thanks. We'll have further updates in November and February. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.

We've updated the results for the A6 to include owner experiences through September 30, 2009. In terms of successful repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2006: 75, small sample size

2003: 216, very small sample size

2002: 143

2001: 196

2000: 159, very small sample size

The 2000, 2002, and 2006 are about average, while the others are worse than average. The results for the 2000 and 2003 are much less accurate than the others because of the size of the sample--these results are asterisked and only visible to members on the site itself.

Thank you, once again, to everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in February and May. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.

Updated results next month. As always, the more owners participate, the better the information we can provide.

We've updated the results for the A6 to include owner experiences through December 31, 2009. In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2006: 88

2005: 176

2004: 161

2003: 210

2002: 135

2001: 157

2000: 88

The 2000 is better than average (too good to be accurate), the 2006 is about average, and the others are worse than average.

Decent sample sizes for the 2001, 2002, and 2006, small sample sizes for the others.

Thank you, once again, to everyone who has been helping.. We'll have further updates in May and August. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.
