Audi A6 The mid-sized Audi A6 model offers more room to the driver and passengers over the A4 line.

Default well...

at least your timing belt didnt go out at 56k miles!!!! try being 20, married, in the military, $8000 dollars it cost me to rebuild the engine, but acutally other than that, all ive had to do was replace a cam shaft position sensor. There are some nic-nacs that i should get taken care of, but nothing major.

Well I guess the lesson here is if you are mechanically inclined and like to work on your car and are able to do the research, diagnostics and stitch in time work so to speak. You will like an Audi.

If you are not you should spend your money in advance on a CPO and spend it on the payments and enjoy a warranty. Even if learned to work on it yourself my tool collection would probably set you back more than the car could ever.

If you only have 6 grand and that's all you have.
You should be looking at a 2000.00 car. That way you have 2K to fix it up and by all means you need to keep something in the bank.

Honestly, they are ******, they reel us in with their beauty, and F us over and take our money. It's the oldest profession in the world for a reason. Audi has just figured a way to capitalize on that.

What?? No! Not you honey, I was talking about the car!

And isn't every stud's desire to be seen with a wonderful woman (even a *****) by his arm, while the other men are salivating and turning their heads until are almost coming off the shoulders?
Nothing has really changed since the cavemen epoch; it's all about status

I have a 2004 A6 S-Line (Audi Certified) with 65k kilometers and the only issue I have had is a loose drivers seat. Getting that fixed next maintenance.

My father has a 2000 A6 2.7T, bought it new, performed regular maintenance and only had one issue where the remote unlock/lock function stopped working for some reason....and he just hit 90k kilometers.

Sorry to hear all the horrror stories but I guess it comes down to bad luck?

Even if mine started giving me problems I would hate to part with it (within reason of course). I love it too much. I could buy a japanese luxury car but then, well, I would be in a boring car. The new G35/G37 is really nice, but I see about 50 of them a day.

According to the reliability ratings on this site the 2004 A6 is pretty reliable

http://wsf.carfax.com/car_safety/rat...D#SARidentifix

the MSN autos reliability report for the 2004 shows good as well. Guess it comes down to just bad luck.

Ya all have C5's

I have a C4 2.8 with over 200K and have few real problems.
Did timing belt - brakes -and a few minor things.

I wonder if C4 vs C5 makes a difference!
Maybe the C4 2.8 is a good one!

Easy to work on, too
You only need time, and some of those naked beauties to bring a few cold pilsneres once in a while and the work is a breeze.

I've had a early 70's super beetle, '79 T-bird, 92 jetta, 2000 jetta, 02 passat turbo and I worked on them all. Nothing like a cold beer on a hot saturday under the car. Just bought an '03 A6 4.2 last month with 107k miles (w/powertrain warranty) and I love it. It drives great, rocket on the hwy on ramp, 3rd gear in Tip and pedal down - look out! But honestly - u guys are scarying the crap outta me. I enjoy working on cars, but not every weekend.
