audi a61998 2.4 auto judder?
odd one this....car has always been serviced correctly by audi dealership in the 12 years I've had it.....recently about 10 mins after starting from cold and running above 1000 rpm on light throttle it has started to 'judder' as if misfiring and running on 4/5 cylinders...but then clears itself above 2500 rpm..no warning/engine lights whatsoever are displayed and car pulls ok. It still has totally original exhaust system from year of manufacture ...1998!.... could the problem be O2 sensor?...vacuum pipes?....catalyst?....other?...I appreciate advice!.(new timing belt etc and water pump fitted 2 years ago)..
have had car diagnosed...engine is 100%...as are ancillaries.....fault identified as auto gearbox related..possibly faulty torque convertor......having researched audi auto box problems I am now going to stick with manual gearbox models......when I think back to when my parents had a 1978 peugeot 504 estate with autogearbox...in the 15 years they had it they never had any gearbox issues.....for pity's sake audi etc ....keep it simple...!!! electronics are well and good on paper...but in real life they're a folly...after 30 years an audi fan..( audi 100..80...a6) I am disappointed with audi.
curiouser and curiouser........in winter time car transmission seemed faulty, and car felt it was misfiring at lowish speeds. ie around 1500-2500 rpm....but........now summertime and weather warmer car seems smoother and normal....could it be a temp sensor problem..?.....
