About 3 months ago- I had my Alternator replaced.
Now- it needs to be replaced again bc the mechanic told me that oil is dripping from the dipstick crack...and the oil destroyed the Alternator.
My plan is to try and weld or mend any cracks, then replace the Alternator myself (just the idea of it, is overwhelming!). Any warnings, etc that I should know before I do this? Like, the gas needs to be emptied before welding work, etc?
Also- when revving the engine, in Park, the sound ends with a 'brrrrr'...and I noticed that sometimes a smoke comes from the area under the coolant reservoir (I cant see where its coming from, from the top of the car). Someone told me it could be the Camshaft on that side. Does that seem accurate?

Any direction and tips would be SO useful!
