Today my battery light came on and after getting to work it would no longer start. So i had my wife buy a new battery because I've had mine for 5 years and knew i needed to replace it before this next winter anyway. So my wife brought me a new battery at lunch and i put it in. The problem is my battery light is still on and it says the battery level is at about 12.6 when before it was right at 14.

Do you think this is an alternator problem?

The negative side is about 4/5 connected to, i had a hard time pushing it down. Also, when I'm at full throttle in first gear, the battery light turns off for a moment and then comes back on.

Well, I went to autozone and had them use their alternator tester and it is bad, so im set to replace it tomorrow. Has anyone replaced one before, any tricks?
