Default Aux Water pump, for those who've nerv seen it and/or have a leak

Guys
my coolant warning came on twice this month.. Expansion tank is not cracked so i figured it was the pump. I have seen a lot of posts lately on Audi forums from guys who have a leak, burnt smell, collant warning on... So i thought I would post this info..
Typically it is one of two things
1- cracked (look for yellow color spots) expansion tank, only 27 bucks at ECS Tuning and DIY
2- Dreaded Aux water pump: part is pricier at $110 at ECSTuning, could not find cheaper. Well did find one at 107 but I trust ECSTuning.
labor is IMO 2 hours, I know some of you out there will come and say I am a moron and can do it in less.... But plan on 2 hours is just my opinion. Oh and mineis a tip
You have to remove the intake, as it is under it. In the process, since the intake is off, put in some NewSouth Power gaskets for 75 bucks and no extra labor..
The stock pump is in part made of plastic. The area where the two plastic parts meet (screwed together) leaks easily and caused the problem you witness, also the plastic part is only clipped to the metal section, and could also cause leakage.
Pics below show my old pump which was just replaced yesterday, i also threw in the powergaskets to reduce temperature. We'll see how they go...
The last pic just show the box the new pump came in so you have the part info. Anyway, on the middle 2 pics, you can see some of the junk where the leak occured...
Hope this helps.

Thanks
here's the info on the power gaskets, some call them spacers

http://www.gmpperformance.com/index....59555&VS=1
PowerGasket™ gives you up to 5% more power from your engine by reducing the temperature of the incoming air to your engine. NewSouth Performance has designed an insulating gasket that radically reduces the heat transfer from the cylinder head to the intake manifold. This gives you cooler, denser air for more horsepower and performance from your engine. Made from a high performance polymer, PowerGasket™ conducts on average less than 1/500th of the heat of the steel gasket that it replaces. Your intake manifold will stay 30-50° F cooler and your incoming air will stay 20-30° F cooler. PowerGasket Plus™ is a composite material that has a significantly higher continuous operating temperature than the original PowerGasket and does not require the application of any extra sealant

NewSouth Performance, LLC has extended PowerGasket Plus™ line to include the Audi 2.7T V6 engines (APB code) for Audi A4 (2000-2002), S4 (2000) and Allroad (2001-2005) In real-time, side-by-side testing, a PowerGasket Plus-equipped Audi S4 drag car had 30°F lower intake air temperatures than its identical counterpart. Using a composite material that is specifically designed for gasket applications, the PowerGasket Plus™ gives you up to 5% more power from your engine by reducing the temperature of the incoming air to your engine with an insulating gasket that radically reduces the heat transfer from the cylinder head to the intake manifold. This gives you cooler, denser air for more horsepower and performance from your engine. Cooler air, denser air, means more oxygen. Your engine sensors register these changes and will inject more fuel to give you more power. Cooler air also reduces detonation, so you can turn up the boost or advance your engine timing for even more performance gains. PowerGasket™ has been designed for affordability, easy installation and no disruption to your manifold attachment and engine accessories. This means that you can simply swap your old intake manifold gasket for a PowerGasket. No buying longer bolts or installing multiple gaskets. In less than 2 hours, you will be enjoying a more powerful, better performing ride.
