Default Boost Leak.......Just an inquiring mind....

After doing some searching, I have seen that the "TBB" seems to be the biggest culprit of boost leaks when you have a chipped 2.7T. The Samco hose is the sure fix. (or a Bi-Pipe from APR)

My question.......How vulnerable are the hoses at both ends of the intercoolers for boost leaks? I did not see anything here discussing the "must replace" themas in the "TBB". Are these hoses also available from Samco?

Thanks for all of your help in advance!

The TBB & DV's are the main sources for leaks.

Some times the TBB will look fine, but have a slight rip on the seam, or at the boost sensor.

The IC hoses seam to not have the same problems & seam to be thicker rubber, then the TBB.

Yes, Samco makes an entire hose kit of the 2.7t.

2K,

Thanks for your expertise! If you do not mind, I would like to ask you one more question. My 2.7T is chipped and I do have a Samco TBB and Stratmosphere diverter valves, plus a Milltek exhaust (no downpipes yet!). My 6 speed tranny does not have the chip in it, What are the benefits of chipping the transmission?

Thanks!

You have a 6sp Tip? ( I don't know a lot about A6's)
Well the trans shifts a lot faster, and will hold to redline, also has a higher redline (to match the engine chip)
I like it, but some don't think it does all that much.

Joeski,

What year are you? If prior to 2001.5, the other thing to watch for is the F-hose. It's another common failure point.

Southboro....

Great point! I am a 2000 and forgot about that little "F" hose. I have some extra cash laying around (YEAH) and I wanted to put it into some Samco hoses, but wanted to get the crucial ones first.

I am going to check on that "F" hose this weekend!

Thanks for your input!
