Default bose power?

just purchased an A6 with the bose system, wonder what the stereo has for watts. used to run 1000+watts but see ne need in that much added weight, and am just wondering if the bose system is capable of running nething besides the little 2" sub that comes with the steroe? kinda like the look of the bose receiver so really dont want to change inless i have to. thanks

i honestly don't think that there's any reason to add all that weight to it, especially because the bose system sounds pretty good on it's own. personally i've never been into the huge car stereos, great clear sounding stereos yes, but not a ton of overwhelming bass. i'm just curious if either you're asking because you haven't been able to listen to it yet, or you're just curious if you can power a seperate set of subs, because i honestly think the little system sounds pretty good for stock and i don't think i would mess with changing it, but that's just me. however, if you do decide that you want to give it a little extra kick, check this out first: https://www.audiforums.com/m_318162/tm.htm

Just run a self powered bass tube, you can attach them to the top of you trunk so you don't lose trunk space and you don't have to mess with the bose sound system. By the way don't splice into the stock bose amp wires unless you wanna buy a thousand dollar amp, my personal experience[:'(]

self powered base tube? all i was thinking about adding was one 8in competition sub. im 21 and there is still plenty of room the the baseball bag and beer. so can the stereo power say 500watts rather than the stock bose subs? i guess what im looking for is how much power the receiver puts out in terms of normal 50x4...... and if there are the equivalen wires to power a amp other than the bose? and also where is the bose getting the power (off the battery) from and would i have to run my own power? thanks for the help, and the self powered base tube... is that something that you have installed or seen?

The reciever puts out next to no wattage, it only sendsa small amountwattage to send to the bose amp then it increases it to nearly 100 watts per channel. Thebose amp doesn't get power striaght from the battery as far as i know, everything is ran through a relay and if you start adding on circuits you can blowfuses, toast relays, or even blow your bose amp.As far as powering your own amp you will have to run your own power wire and ground for an external sub. A self power bass tube is an 8" woofer in a tube design with and amplifire already installed you just run the wires, but it doesn't produce much bass.
