Brake Pad/Rotor Kit
Hey all -
First, thanks for all the incredible info on this board. I can't believe how generous people are with their knowledge - thanks for helping us noobs get up to speed with car DIY.
I'm getting ready to do the front pads/rotors and CV boots on my car (2001 A6 2.7T). Just wanted to check to make sure this kit from blauparts is what I need for the rotors and pads:

I'm not looking for performance - just something to replace the basic setup. I don't race or run it hard - it's just a commuter and travel vehicle.
Thanks so much!
Justin

To be honest if its just a commuter that kit is probably a bit expensive. As long as you know what kind of brakes you have (definately be sure) I would just go to napa or somewhere and get some wagner rotors and thermoquiet pads. Will save you the shipping for the heavy rotors and maybe 30-40$ in parts.
A pretty good place for relatively cheap stuff: http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/199...ake_rotor.html
I'm planning to get the Zimmermann rotors (have been a good brand for a while) with Akebono pads (for basically no brake dust and great performance) and that brings me to $200 much similar to yours. Keep in mind that these are higher end products than what you are looking at, but no they technically are not 'OEM' but it does give you a bit better performance for the same cost here.
