Most likely needs to be done farely soon!! Look at the pad and see how much is left! It's pretty thin do it soon so you don't ruin your rotor as well!! Pads will probably run you $40-$80.00.

well u shud b able to do another2 - 5000km from when the light comes on, depending on the quality pad u hav on. but if u have a ridge on the disk it will start to push on the ridge and not hard enuf on the disk , then u will loose braking pwr. replace then str8 away., i just did all my pads and front disks ,cost about R 1400 , think thats bout $ 200 or so. that was bosch and febi pads with a.t.e disks.

Depending on how many miles/week you rack up, I'd say you have 2, maybe 3 weeks (3000miles is a little HIGH of an estimate of remaining *functional* life, IMHO. maybe time until they grind, but you don't wat to take it THAT far), or about 1500 miles. I base my esitmate on personal experience with waiting too, too long until changing out the pads when the light comes on, on a couple different cars. Much longer than that and you risk scoring teh rotors.

Pads are an easy DIY.

Unless you are doing track-time, you do NOT need ceramic pads. Not that you mentioned it, but I just thought I'd throw it out there.

A VERY good set should run you $65-$85/axle -front, $45-$65/axle - rear.

So when my mechanic says $170 per axle for pads he's out of control? I appreciate all the feedback, thanks
