$170 per axle is not uncommon, but you can do it for a lot less. I was quoted $270 per axle with new disks.

When I do brakes I usually replace the disks and pads at the same time because it makes for a better job. Always make sure the slides are free - other wise you'll be wasting your money.

Many times I do the calipers and disks on the rear because the pistons don't always turn in easily. I usually do rebuilt-loaded rear calipers for about $100 each.
