Brake replacement question
I have been reading through all of the tech articles on changing pads and I noticed nobody mentions resurfacing the rotors. Is this just assumed or does it not need to be done?
Thanks, William

RE: Brake replacement question
If you're doing 70mph, hit the brakes hard and you don't have any shimming/ vibration from the front wheels then your rotors aren't warped and don't need resurfaced. If they are slightly warped, then by all means have them machined/turned, within specs.

RE: Brake replacement question
I have a 2000 2.7. It was hard for me to find anyone that was willing to resurface the rotors on my car. They all said that it required new rotors with the brake job. I bought the car used with 50k on it so I just decided to get new pads and rotors all around. After a $985 quote from a dealer, I bought upgraded parts, like cross drilled Zimmerman rotors and ceramic pads for $470 and did the job myself. It wasn't too hard. Good luck.

RE: Brake replacement question
I have ridden the brakes very hard and had no vibration at all so I guess I'm good with the rotors. I'm starting to hear a little bit of squealing every now and then. I'm right at 54,000 miles so I'm going to do them now before they get bad. Probably just do the rotors too if I can get everything for $500. Thanks alot guys.
