Default Brake rotor size

I have a 2002 (manufacture date 08/10/2001) a6 Quattro 2.7t with 8 pad (girling caliper) front brakes. Ineed to replace the rotors, so I called the dealership and they said that my car takes 320mm X 30mm. Everywhere I look online says 321mm X 30mm. Which one should I go with?

Thanks.

Hey J

The 320 and 321 is the same thing (if you know what I mean). I think the 321mm is the correct value though. Anyway the thing to look out for is the rotor hat height. The A6 had two types installed, the 4 pad and two pad. Yours will use the same rotors as the S4 as far as I know.

Here's a post I did a while ago for mine (I have the Ate calipers) with all the info in it (4 and 2 pad). Have a look and let me know if I can answer any questions. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2995079 I have more info if you need it, as I did a lot of research before I bought mine. Another thing, don't buy these at the dealership, they'll cost you twice the money. I did F&R for around $300 including shipping. Got mine from these guys: http://www.designrt.net/ They also sell rotors on e-Bay. Good quality Zimmermans with an antirust coating etc. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/00-01...mZ310056053364

I would suggest taking one of your front wheels off and looking on the bolt face of the rotor for the part number. This way you know you are getting the right thing. I listed them in the postabove.

FYI if you are doing the rears at the same time, note the rears were also different.

Yeah they are a b!tch to get in sometimes...

I "rolled" the middle in first and then pryed the top and bottom in one at a time...Then I "pulled" the spring over the chrome pins... Actuallyit was only one at that stage ....if that makes any sense...

Not sure if these will help..
