Default Brakes 2001 audi a6

Im new to the audi world so i apologize if i sound dumb. Thinking i need to replace the front pads and rotors. I looked at autozone and i have the goofy 8 pad set. What is that wire coming out of the pad? And is changing them straight forward like it is on any normal car or is there anything special i have to do. Also someone said to me that audi rotors cant usually be turned you have to buy new ones, is this true? Thanks

On the 8 pads set, 1 pad/side has wires to it which are used to indicate pad wear. If you wear down to the wires it would indicate a brake wear symbol on the dash. Pads & rotors are pretty easy to change. I don't know about turning the rotors, as I just replaced mine. Here's a link that includes brake DIY:
