Buying a 2001 2.7T Need a little help
Few examples:
I have Hankook Optimo418 on the Elantra and they're as smooth as butter - extremely quiet.
I also purchased 3 times now for someone else sets of Kumho Ecsta (although not Platinum) and they're very good - traction wise- and quiet. He put a set on his 2005 Taurus, while the other two sets he mounted on two clients' Buicks. No complaints whatsoever.
Sometimes it happens that people have different underlying suspension/steering issues and they blast a tire thinking that the tire is the noise source.
I personally would have went with the Hankooks even for the Audi, but the Contis came a bit lower, with road hazard replacement warranty included... a no brainer!
It turned out that they're very good, although I read countless reviews blasting them as being...noisy!... LOL
Anyway, I'm glad you end up with decent tires.
cheers
