Default Buying Advice Please

I am looking to buy a '96 A6 Avant 2.8 Quattro loaded, with 82K, what should I look for? Is the automatic transmission an issue with these cars, I heard it can cost upwards of 8-10K for a trans installed in these cars, is this true. What are other problem areas i need to look at.
Thanks
Jack

Default RE: Buying Advice Please

I haven't heard of tranny issues.
The control arms are always an issue with Audis in general. They need a constant eye monitoring their condition.
The timing belt, fuel filter and pump should have been done by now on that vehicle. Of course brakes and all the typical issues you'd check on any used car should be considered for this car with that mileage.
