a/c, defrost, and heater not working right
2000 a6 avant 2.8
less than 50,000 on it
salvaged vehicle so it doesn't run perfectly
during the summer months this thing is impossible to keep cool. in fact, we avoid driving it long distances because it is incapable of cooling occupants in the vehicle. it's not so bad in fall and winter because it can heat some, but is not entirely consistent. if i set the temp at 70 or something like that it will think that i set it at 80 and make the car so hot inside. the defrost doesn't work well at all either.
any ideas on what the problem might be? kind of frustrated with this issue as the car doesn't have tons of miles. i know, once a car is crashed it's never the same, but i'd like to get it running as well as possible.
does the a/c just need a recharge, do i need to do something more extensive? really hoping it's not the latter, but it wouldn't surprise me. recently came across an orifice tube link. not sure if that's related and could somehow be the fix to this issue.
