Default C5 2.8L A6 Will Not Start

The starter motor is turning but I am not getting any spark. A few days ago the car started but I shut her down after tripping the check engine light/rough idling. I cleared the error codes listed below and now the old girl won't start. Any advice? Coil packs, fuel pump relay? Cats toast?

The car won't start due to many reasons. I guess the main problem coming out of these errors is that the fuel supply is not proper. I hope you have checked the spark plugs. Fuel pump relay could be a problem if the spark plugs are ok. If not, then the next thing to look for is coil packs. With catalytic converter and O2 sensor damaged, your car should still start, so these are not the issues I guess.

Default Car wont start???

With all the codes coming up, the first thing you can do is check all your fueses. To do this you will need a test light.

Secondly, it is very important that you check these fuses with a good test light. You should invest in one from power probe.

U had the same problem with my 2000 2.8 and found out that my fuse looked good but was not getting any power. I used the power probe and put power to a fuse and the car started right up. my car was down for over 6 months, 4 shops, 1 dealer that told me I needed a new ECU, . I am not saying this is your problem but you have to find out what is getting power and what is not I hope this helps you and I am free to answer any questions you may have

Thank you for the response. I hadn't had a chance to check the plugs. It was dark out when she wouldn't fire up and I just ran the codes. I will try to run the output test on the fuel pump relay. How do you determine the test failed? Is there any thing that would indicate the coil packs are toast?

First off , thanks for a autoscan of your vehicle. It would help if we could get everyone to post one of these up for all looking for powertrain help.

Do you have individual or a single coil pack. How was the spark checked?

Answering the other question. Vag Com can do activations of the fuel pump. If the pump runs it is a good sign that the fuel pump & relay are good!

Clean the MAF and see what happens. Also try to start without the sensor plugged in.

So had to bring her into the shop as I don't have spare time at the moment. They're telling me no compression and that the timing belt is toast. Is this remotely possible? Just had the thing replaced at 95,000 and we are at 120,000. Are they lying?

Jumper cable to negative terminal and wire with plug inserted. Mucho spark.

I tried running the output test and I could not tell if the pump was functioning properly. Is there another test that I should be looking for? Activation?

Thanks

I just had the same starting issue, checked my plugs, they were carboned up. Replaced plugs and cranked the engine over and over for ten minutes. It eventually fired, blew a bunch of smoke, ran a can bg44k through it and haven't had a problem since. Found out later my wife has been running 87 instead of 91. Valves are carboned up, probably affecting compression. I might have the whole intake system cleaned.
