Default C6 power steering wheel motor broken!

Hey guys,
My 2007 S6 with only 43k miles today gave me the first problem ever. My power adjustable steering wheel doesnt go up and down any more. In and out works, but the up and down just stopped. I rarely even use that adjustment and not its stuck way at the top.

I did a search, but no threads out there. Anyone know where to get a good priced part and how to replace that motor?

Thanks!

yeah saw this too, but mine just doesnt work up or down nor with the memory buttons. works fine telescoping. I'm afraid the motor went bad, so just looking for a diy on how to take the column apart before sending it to the dealer.

The J519 listed in the audizine thread, control unit for height adjustable steering column, price on it is 371.26 and retails for 499.00 dollars, we have one in stock. The steering column is only sold as an assembly with no motors listed separately. Not only are the motors for up/down and forward/back part of that assembly, so is what was listed as the CPU for the ESL (electronic steering lock), a bit of steering column trivia that might win you a bar bet.

Hey Jeff,
Thanks for the reply. What unit do you have in stock? just the Control unit itself? part number 4F0907279.

When i called my local dealer, they said I needed the entire column like you stated part number 4F0419512M. Price $1450 plus 500 to install. No way i'm paying that much to get that fixed. Car is barely driven and just makes me even more disappointed in Audi.

Do you think its just the control module that needs replacing or the entire column? Thanks

Brian

The number that you listed for the module is now changed to 4F0-910-279-AE for 371.26 dollars. The column # is correct though. Is there a switch to manually move the assembly up and down and if so does it work when using the switch? Otherwise the tech I asked said it could be either the control unit or the steering column assembly that is at fault. The car would have to be brought in for diagnosis as to which item is bad, sounds like you've done that already though.
