Default Cam Adjuster Replacement (4.2)

Has anyone had to replace their cam adjusters?

The arm on the mechanical side of one of the diaphragms is broken and I need to replace it. Sadly, they don't replace just that 3.5inch long piece of plastic. Instead you have to order the whole cam adjuster kit which is like $400. So, a fix that could cost $3 in plastic is going to cost $400?

I suppose I'll be looking for some wrecked 4.2s or just fix the one I have with some crazy glue and a metal brace/duct tape/something!

This is sad.

Based on ones skills and determination some parts could be manufactured at home =>what is your filing dexterity? With aluminum?
Patience (Luke)?

Honestly, I've been thinking about this. My quick fix idea is a combination of crazy glue and safety wire.

As for the aluminum, I'm sure I could do it. Where can I get a small piece of solid aluminum? I'm sure I can find/buy the necessary file.

That plastic piece on the tensioner is gonna have 50+lbs of pressure pulled down on it by the chain, so whatever you use make sure it is uber strong.

Roger. I forgot I made this thread as well. Thanks auditech!

Amazing that little piece of plastic is capable of handling that amount of force. I'm not surprised it is broken now.
