Can the electric engine fan ne disabled?
Now the electric fan is starting to make noise...bearing I'm sure...can it be disabled till I can get it fixed and if so,how? It has the clutch fan too and its getting cold here in Michigan...Will that be enough? Has anyone replaced the bearing in your fan?

RE: Can the electric engine fan ne disabled?
You can disable the fan by locating the quick connect on the fan harness and pulling them apart. Will the clutch fan provide enough cooling is another question. Either way if you are replacing it yourself you will have to disconnect it sometime. I replaced one in a 99' A6 not much of a problem, dealer item and you get the whole assembly not just the motor. One thing is to replace/disconnect the fan before the bearing seizes up and blows the MAIN Breaker as opposed to the fuses next to the drivers door it was difficult to figure out/find that fuse. Hope this helps.

Which fan? The one in front of the radiator or the one on the engine side. If its the one on the engine side make sure the fan isnt loose. the bolts that hold the fan motor to the housing tend to come loose. If its the one in front of the radiator make sure the one on the engine side turns. It may be locked up by a piece of rubber.
