Can i buy new remote on ebay and program it by myself? It usually comes with uncut key.. dealre wants for new key with remote, cutting , programing and mayke it work with my immobiliser around $350 :/ is there any cheaper way to make a spare key??? the problem is i have only one key and im worried what will happen when i loose it or lock it in the vehicle :/ can somebody help me?

 

i forgot to mention i have '01 Audi A6 4.2l with immobiliser

 

You can buya remote on ebay, but there is a chance that it could be the wrong one, or thier could be something wrong with it.
As far as I know the dealer is the only one that can cut the key?
I know that the dealer is the only one that can program the key to your car.

 

I just had a spare ex ebay key cut and programmed by my local auto locksmith in the UK, it cost me a total of £100 for this and also to have my other two keys reset to the immobiliser.

Beware of the keys on ebay though, mine needed the part with the transponder in it replacing with a new one before it could be recognised, this was despite the fact the key numbers were the same. It is not possible to do this without plugging the car into a fancy bit of kit to talk to the electronics, he also had it connected directly by internet to VAG in Germany to obtain new codes etc.

Still it worked out a lot cheaper than a main dealer would have charged me.

yeah, ive just ordered key one ebay., numbers are exactly the same as on my original key, i have vagcom so we will see .. its just like i said dealer wants $180 for the key and almost $140 for programming , $320 total cost, so far i paid $56 for blank uncut key and found instructions on ross tech website how to replace it..

 

I bought a key off EBAY for $35. The dealership machine couldn't cut the blade. The said it was from a different metal than the OEM key. I had to buy another key blade from them for $35 and they charged me $42 to program the new remote. Still better than the $289 they wanted for a new remote. Good luck.
