Default Can a Steering angle sensor cause....

Can a steering angle sensor cause the ESP and ABS light to come on? My dealer told me this is what caused those lights to come on.

I'm skeptical... Have you pulled the codes using a VAG COM. I had my ESP and ABS lights come on after my battery ran down and I needed to jump it. Pulled codes and found out they were due to "low voltage conditions." Cleared the codes and the problem has never reappeared.

Yes, it can. Mine did when I did not recalibrate the steering angle sensor after doing the tiptronic paddle-shift steering wheel install in the 2.7T. Once everything was recoded and recalibrated (with my VAG COM) everything was fine.

The steering angle sensor is located in the "clock spring) which is located just behind the steering wheel. If you need to replace the part, it costs about $300, plus install and calibrating. Good luck!

BD has spoken. I humbly retract my earlier statement. [X(]

Thanks guys! I got the car to the dealer and they found out that when the car was towed in on a flatbed the stupid redneck driver pulled it on the flatbed via the control arms and to prevent it from rocking foward once on the truck connected it to something else on the rear axles and bent those all to hell!!!!! That is why the steering was off and that is why the angle sensor is reporting an error do to the fact that the steering wheel is never centered since you have to drive it with the steering wheel cocked to go straight! Now I am having to wait on a claim by my insurance company to deal with this crap. Funny thing is I even put the tow eye in for the guy and told him to only tow it that way to avoid any damage. I guess I should have stayed with the car when he got there! My fault for thinking that some elementary school drop out would understand simple instructions and to learn how to tow a freakin car the right way!

Thanks for the advise and I will update with the resolution to this matter.
